World's Largest Halloween Party!! At the Louisville Zoo

So if there is anything this family loves it would be the zoo. We have a Zoo pass and we go about 2 to 3 times a month just to see the animals. But Mommy has a thing for the holiday's. She really loves that it starts with Halloween. On a good year she will make all the costumes. Yes mommy loves the holiday's. So the fact that the Louisville Zoo has The World's Largest Halloween Party, it means we must go right? Now last year was our first year in town for this event. We went on a Sunday and didn't leave the house until 5. We had to wait in traffic for what seemed like ages. My husband didn't want to park and use the free shuttle due to riding it with 4 young kids. We had to wait in line for what seemed like forever once we actually parked. It was pure misery.
This year mommy planned ahead. I knew that the it opened for trick or treating at 5. I knew I wanted to park in the lot again this year so that part opened at 4pm. So we left pretty much as soon as school was over on a Friday. We got to the zoo parking lot where we helped the kids into their costumes. There was NO WAIT to get to the zoo, and no wait getting into the Zoo. Now because we were early there was a small line for the trick or treating but that was to just get in.

Before the costume, having a snack.

Once you enter, it is the princess area. Now this is great for my little girls!! They all want to be princesses, or are at least treated like princesses in this house. The bonus for when we went this year was the lack of a line to get to talk to each princess, so getting a picture with the princesses was super easy. The cast is completely awesome. They all talk to each of my kiddos and even ask the kids questions.

After this section was Toy Story. We ended up feeling a little rushed there as this is popular for both the boys and the girls. However the few pictures I did see get taken there, this cast had the best posses EVER. I loved it. They were so in character. My kids thought they were awesome. We passed through the Hogwarts area, where you could have done a craft for an extra cost, which is great if you have older more patient kids.
We made it through the pinball game area. It is so old school it rocks.
Now during summer time the zoo does a really awesome dinosaur exhibit, and there is a dinosaur area for this. My kids were traumatized by the visit this summer, so they didn't care for this area on the trick or treat route. (For every area there is a stop for a small piece of candy) The kids didn't even notice the Flinstones there they were so occupied with the dinosaurs not getting them.
We then hit Glacier Run. Now we love the bears. Qannik was in the glass area. We even got to meet one of the mascots too. Only one kiddo willing to pose though.

First time we have seen a seal out of the water.

Mommy just wanted a shot while between stations.

We then came across Alice and Wonderland set up. The kids got to meet  the Red Queen. Then they got to sit and have a tea party with Alice and The Mad Hatter.

As we continued to meander we went Under the Sea. Here there is a submarine the kids can pose in and they got to meet Ariel and Prince Eric. This was awesome. Ariel even let Lizard sit in her lap. They were so sweet.
As you pass here you find the Yellow Brick Road. As we all know this can only go one place. Off to Oz  we went. My children of course had to follow the yellow brick road, which can be fun, but this one is super windy. I loved the lion in the picture I took. He had tons of personality. The scarecrow was so cute too.
From here we hit the land of pirates. Now the cast really gets into character. I will give them props as the pirates started yelling pirate shouts and saw my kid go from running ahead of me to a 180 running back to me he quickly changed his tune and did his best to calm my child down. They did awesome. Mommy loved seeing Captain Jack Sparrow.
We rushed by the superhero area due to one disappointed little dragon. He so totally wanted to meet Spiderman and since they don't do masks he wasn't there. He could have met Batman, Superman or Wonderwoman.
The trail wound down as we hit the swamp. Here was Shrek, Princess Fiona, and Puss in Boots. My kids loved the chance to trick or treat at the Zoo. As you leave the trail there is a wooded area that has voices that talk to you. Asking what is in your sack. It is fun watching the kids look around to see who is talking or listening to the older ones talk back. We loved going this year. We look forward to next year's trip. I love the cast a they do an awesome job and are completely wonderful with the kids. There is still another chance to hit The World's Largest Halloween Party, you should take advantage of the chance, enjoy the fun. I do suggest going early if you can. It was worth the planning on our part  to avoid long lines and get to really meet each set of characters.
