More cooking and the Zoo

Image
Here is what I put in my Spaghetti sauce. (Yes we had spaghetti tonight, I went to the zoo today and wanted a quick meal) The garlic is not in the picture and I actually almost forgot it. I made about double what I needed for one meal so I froze half for another time (yeah I know you are seeing a theme.) I brown the meat and the onions and peppers and garlic on the stove before putting in the crock pot. I use a crock pot because it can sit and simmer all day letting the flavors really set. I think it gives it a richer flavor. I use this same sauce for my lasagna only if I am using it for that I add sugar, not much just a tad. Well since I had the hardest part of my meal started I cut naps short and we went to the zoo today. It was pretty decent out and we had planned on meeting a mommy from The Mommy Nest but we got there with some good time and the kids were set to see the animals so I just started going. That and my phone was mean and wouldn't let me see her number in my mess

Crock Pot Monday

Image
So I decided that on Monday's I would make crock pot meals. Every other Monday is Girl Scouts for Pumpkin so I need something fast to get out of the house quickly. The first week was a holiday so I just made lasagna. Last week I tried a Pinterest recipe of pulled pork. It was good but frankly it made way too much to even save and use later. If I do that one again, it will not have a bone, it will be smaller and there will be more people for dinner. Today I broke out my binder of Weight Watchers recipes. There are recipes I have never tried in there so today was a good day to try one out. I doubled it and it was quite tasty. It was Southwestern Slow Cooker Chicken and Potato Soup. I gathered everything together while the kids watched on. I think they want to cook daily but for now momma can barely do Friday's with them cooking. Once the fighting stops I will have them help me a bit more. The bag of corn is missing from this picture but it gets added much later. So I c

Baking Friday

Image
So I decided two weeks ago I would start making treats on Friday's with the duo. Last week I made Christmas Crack and well I didn't let them help cause it would have been unsafe. I did however let them be the first to try it, and that was consumed by Monday in this house. Today the baking of choice was Banana Bread. I mean how yummy? So after dropping big sister off at school we came home. We got out everything we needed to make the bread. I allowed them to carry things to the counter and boy were they proud kiddo's helping momma. Then it came time to measure things out. I only have one step ladder for the kitchen and really this is because I can't reach the cabinet shelves. Well this was not big enough for the duo to share. The duo being Bubba and Lizard. This of course led to hitting and biting, now I love my kiddos but this drives me insane. There was lots of distraction while this went on, to include washing the hands a couple of times, to putting clean items in t

My project craze

Okay so like so many other women out there I have found Pinterest. Yes I was very addicted for a bit, but now I have this huge list of things I want to try or do so I just sort of stopped pinning things and have been trying things out. The other day I did one of the cleaning things I found. See I inherited a cookie pan from my mother. Now we all know what happens to cookie pans no matter how clean you keep them. After 30 years the pan looks like THIS Well I found this recipe to clean it up using Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide. Basically taking Baking Soda and adding enough Hydrogen Peroxide to create a paste. You then can either using your fingers or a rag and apply it to the pan. I started using my hands then I used a scrub brush a little (my stain remover brush from the laundry room). I used a few applications remember it is 30 plus years of grime living there, some of what were almost permanent burnt chunks living on here. Well after about 20 minutes it looked like THIS I

The New Obsession

When my husband and I first got married we had some really good friends we would see about every other weekend. We would have dinner and then play board games until one of us could no longer stay awake. It was nice, we always had fun and it was great to be able to spend time with another couple. We still stay in touch with this couple and miss them greatly. We had other friends we would do this with but never as often as it was with this couple. Now when we would come home to visit his family we always had at least one game night if not more and that was fun. This was something we longed for in the last two places we lived but it just never seemed possible. We either did not have couple friends whom were both in town at the same times as my husband or we both shared so many kids (and anti social husbands) that it just was never possible. So moving here I knew he had friends and we might once again have game nights. So last weekend we had a game night. I knew we needed snacks so shopp

Today was a WIN

Okay so I can be one of those crazy coupon ladies trying to score a deal, I have a binder and the whole nine yards. Now if you ever tried to score a deal with 3 kids in tow you will know how hard this can be. I had heard a rumor today that Target was marking down toys to 70% off. I just knew I had to at least attempt to go. Now here is what they do not tell you, that things don't get marked down until after the store opens. You will fight a grandpa for the good toys, and you plus three kids and a cart don't fit down the aisle with all the other crazy people trying to score a deal. So I went I scoped the aisle saw they had not marked down stuff made mental notes on what I wanted. I then decided we needed to do a bathroom break. We then went to find some Splenda because well I had stack-able coupons making them 50 cents a box and daddy will use that in his coffee. I go back to said toy aisle and grandpa is taking the toys out of the ladies hands as they mark them down. Holy fre

I'm still decluttering

Okay so you move, before you move you take 80% of what you haven't touched in 2 years to the dump. Or you donate it. We got rid of 3 van loads of stuff before we moved. We KNEW we had too much stuff. It was lots of odds and ends, toys we just never brought in the house and various Army stuff hubby had stashed away in the garage knowing we would never use it again. Just stuff we did not want to move. So fast forward to December and we move into the house and decide "let's get a dumpster to just get rid of the boxes from the move." Okay so that worked we avoid taking months to get rid of the boxes by just getting rid of them all at once, well since we had the dumpster I finally got rid of stuff I did not know why I was keep it. Things from college,  heck even high school that I really had no use for. Things broken during the move gone! We really really did a good job getting rid of just junk. We even donated two van loads full of stuff because we just didn't want i

Bubba's room Part 2

Image
Okay so yeah we have been here a few months but today I finally got finished with Bubba's room. Well that is not the truth, we have Christmas toys to move into the room but it is set up the way we want it set up. He loves his room. t This room pretty much screams cars. Including the ceiling. The bed really turned out great, daddy and uncle did an awesome job. full view gotta show you Mater. We got just a cheapo chest of drawers but McQueen just makes it nice. When daddy was a kid his grandfather made him a night stand with a car on it. It just was too perfect for this room. Here is the rest of the room. I hope you enjoyed the finished product of this room. We think it turned out great. I am hoping that I will have at least one more kids room picture worthy this weekend.

The Year Begins!!

Well Happy New Year!!!  I at least hope your new year is a happy one. I start this year feeling ambitious. I have many goals (that will probably be adjusted) but feel great that this year will be another great year.  I have decided that I will be coming here to talk at least 5 days a week, a mommy needs some down time each night right? I decided that I will be doing my 5K this year (and my husband got volunteered to do this with me.) I have gotten even more eager and decided I am going to be doing Project 365 as well (you can follow me through that link if you wish.) I will continue to keep my house in order which I look forward to very much. I am going to attempt to dress up more as I think that will be an add on to my wearing make up more often from last year. I will have a date day with at least one of my children every month. I hope for all this to make for one awesome year. For us here school starts tomorrow, which means so does my schedule. Let's hope that things are not as
